8tracks vs Spotify

I was introduced to 8tracks back in 2013 and I’ve been using it since then. I was rather satisfied with the way music was presented on the website and I never really found a reason to go exploring for other sites like 8tracks. A close friend of mine compelled me to try Spotify¬†for the first time. I was actually quite sure I would not like Spotify more than 8tracks, but after using the former for about a week, I feel like my opinions have changed.

Spotify vs 8tracks

The principle behind both the websites are similar. It’s an online radio/streaming service. There are pre-created playlists that are divided on the basis of genres, moods, events, etc.¬†There are some areas in which Spotify certainly excels over 8tracks, though. Spotify allows you to jump between a playlist, to skip songs you don’t want to listen to, or get to another song first. 8tracks however, plays songs in a particular order, and you don’t have a way of knowing all the songs that are on a particular playlist till you have listened to all of them. You can only use the skip button a limited number of times during an hour, which is rather limiting too.

So, if you are looking for an online radio that is user-friendly, and has an appealing interface, Spotify is certainly the winner- and I have no qualms admitting that.
